We've come to Stella's final day on the blog. It's funny how bittersweet this feels -- on the one hand I'm so ready to give up the challenge, and on the other I'm sorry to say goodbye to her. She's become almost like a real person to me, and we've been through so much together. Many of you were there with us when our journey began in April 2007. That's a long time to work with one paper collection!
Today's card combines much of what I love about Stella -- pretty florals, earthy solids that aren't really solids at all, warm colors, and the ability to be just about anything you require of her. Stella has done feminine, masculine, every season, and just about every holiday -- including Halloween! Today she's made a birthday card with a vintage edge to it. I've used a carousel horse and sentiment from Flourishes' Enjoy the Ride. The Prima flowers, glazed brad, and velvet ribbon also came from Flourishes. Along with Stella, I've used varying shades of brown and yellow cardstocks, and Spellbinders Large Scalloped Oval Nesties. There's a Martha Stewart edge punch here, too. The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and embossed with Vanilla embossing powder. The carousel horse was stamped on Flourishes' Classic White Cardstock and colored with Prismacolor alcohol markers (similar to Copics).

Hello again! Every now and then I skip a Tuesday with Stella. Either she doesn't have it in her, or I don't have it in me. However, today I decided to get busy with some sympathy cards I was asked to make for a friend's Mom. Some of my small Stella scraps were perfect for the clean and simple look I like for this type of card.
For both cards I used Flourishes Thinking of You, one of my few sympathy sets, save for some random sentiments. Both use the retired BasicGrey Stella Ruby designer paper and Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock. I think they're self-explanatory, so I've listed any additional ingredients below each card.
Ink: Adirondack Sandal, Chocolate Chip Accessories: 5 mm rust Crystal Stickers, Cuttlebug Diamonds in the Rough embossing folder, Spellbinders Classic Square Nestabilities, Scotch brand foam mounting tape
For the second card I added the Vintage Wallpaper background and a pretty Prima pearl embellishment, and matted the image oval on Blush Blossom cardstock:

Hello, friends! I have a simple card to share today. I’ve been coloring up a storm for the rest of the week and it did feel good to take a little break with something clean and simple. I’ve used Hero Arts sets from Stamper’s Dream, and a sketch from Becky Fleck’s September Card Maps. Heck, it seems most of the work was done for me. Now, that’s what I call simple!
It’s a good sketch for using some of the few scraps of Stella Ruby I have left. She’s dwindling and nearly gone, but there always seems to be one more card in her. My stamps are Real Garden Petals, and a sentiment from Just Find Me. Inside it says “Wishing you all things wonderful”, another sentiment from the Just Find Me set. This combo of outside/inside sentiments makes this card suitable for a number of occasions – thank you, birthday, just because – to name a few. A good card to have on hand.
Tomorrow I’ll have two posts. It’s not something I do often, but it’s just the way it worked out. It’s the beginning of Flourishes new release previews plus a JustRite Christmas Blog Hop. I surely do hope you’ll join me. Have a great day!

Hello! I’m so glad you could drop in to share another Ruby Tuesday!
I was feeling the need for sleek simplicity when I made this card. Does that feel good to you sometimes, too? Now, I’m all for layers and panels and bits overlapping or peeking from behind. Fancy brads and pretty buttons, photo turns and opulent ribbons and trims will turn my head into the next century, as the overfilled drawers in my stamp room will testify. The quest for ever more original and interesting designs is perpetual and mind boggling and ultimately I come to this place — where I need to rest…just ease down and take a slow, deep breath and fill myself with a fresh creative outlook. In time I’ll wander away and lose sight of this tranquil place but I’ll always find my way back again. I’ll remember how much I enjoyed my visit.
Today’s card, along with the previous paragraph, are from an August, 2007 blog post. That was back when I had plenty of Stella to work with. It was also from my old blog, which I’ve never been able to successfully import to this blog. I’ve been thinking about simply copying some of the tutorials at least, into new posts here.
For now, I’ll just share this card. It’s simple, but I like it, and I didn’t have time to make a new Stella card this weekend. I have other projects that need doing before I run out of time. Welcome to Ruby Tuesday! Stella dressed up all pretty today in roses and pearls. You’d think she had someplace to go, wouldn’t you? She has no plans, though. She’s just sitting around the house… waiting for someone to ask her out…
I left this card sentiment free for the time being because, really, it has no designated purpose yet. When its time comes, it will be hand delivered, perhaps tucked into a basket of lotions and soaps for a birthday gift. It’s a standard A2 size with a shortened front flap to allow a border of Stella to grace both the inside and outside of the card. The front edge was trimmed with Spellbinders Ric Rac Border Pierceabilities, and the rose panel overlapping. The roses are Flourishes A Year in Flowers 2, watercolored with markers. Well, after two seasonal cards in a row, I’ve come back to the flowers which, of course, are seasonal, too, but I love to stamp flowers summer, winter, spring, and fall. I’m using a piece of Stella which I tried to brighten up with two shades of ivory and some white with a bright pop of pink in the Sweet Peas.
I colored with Copics and shaded around the image with vanilla ink. After I colored the Sweet Peas I traced over the tiny tendrils with the fine tip of a green Stampin’ Up! marker. I accented with a copper Finishing Touches ribbon slide, a copper pearl, and a pretty pearl cluster which came from Flourishes, but appears to be out of stock. It fit just perfectly in the diamond pattern of the paper. Sigh… I can’t wait for all the new items to arrive in the store.

Happy Ruby Tuesday! Today I had my heart set on using this little rocking horse image – JustRite Hearts Come Home from Stamper’s Dream – and at the same time I wanted to combine it with Ruby Tuesday. So. . . from the image choice, to the papers, colors, layout, ribbon, everything is all about making it work.
As you know, my stock of Stella is running low, and there weren’t many choices which would work with this dainty image I’d already colored on white paper. The green middle border strip was embossed with the Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder – left over from another card a couple of years ago (can you believe it’s been that long?). The red looked too plain, so I white embossed a snowflake stamp from the JustRite Holiday Cheer set. The rest is just trying to piece together the scraps and coordinate cardstock, ribbon and embellishments. Despite a stamp room spilling over with supplies, it was more difficult than I anticipated. In the end, I’ve got another Christmas card done and, come December, I’ll appreciate it!
