Here we go with another Double D Challenge, friends. Darlene’s favorite color is purple, so it stands to reason she was going to present us with a purple challenge at some point. Well, today’s the day – Shades of Purple. And when Darlene says “purple”, I do purple.
I’ve used my brand new Dynamic Duos: Foxglove and Ranunculus clear stamp set from Power Poppy and colored with Prismacolor pencils on 140 lb hot press watercolor paper. It came out looking watercolored. Interesting. I’m experimenting with different papers for Prismacolor pencils. This may not be “the one”, but it worked pretty well. The image was stamped in Memento London Fog which minimizes the outline, but it doesn’t completely disappear. Makes coloring so much easier when you can still see the lines.
This old BasicGrey Wisteria designer paper is one of the few pads I have with purples, so out it came, and the Pale Plum card base was texturized with a Darice Basket Weave embossing folder. There are more details in the card recipe at the end.
Now for the inspiration board and the prize for our Shades of Purple challenge:
Head on over to the Double D Challenge to see the team’s pretty purple samples, and then show us your own shades of purple. Enjoy, and have a fabulous day!

Your card caught my eye right away in my Feedly post. Wow this is amazing! Love purples - anything purple. The flowers are beautifully coloured on the hot press watercolour paper, I don't own any hot press, might have to get some to try. And of course the BG Wisteria, one of my fav collections - I too still have some 12 x 12 and 6 x 6 - I'm hoarding it for something special! Love the texture of your embossed background and all the edges of the die cuts! Beautiful Leslie - have a wonderful day.

Oh, Leslie, I am swooning over this beauty, and I LOVE your coloring! You are really rocking the pencils, and I love that it looks like you've watercolored it! Wow, I still have some of this DP too, and it is the rare purple I still have! It's beautifully done with the cross-stitch dies and the sweet scallop stitched dies. And I especially love how you've added the texture seen in the top left of the inspiration photo. Beautifully done and makes me want to use this today. But I have other things in progress. But thanks for always inspiring me, my friend! Hugs!
