Honestly, I will get back to stamping soon, but thought I’d invite you in, once again, to share some of the doin’s that keep us so busy around here. Rich is glad to have the June hedge trimming behind him now.
This is the street side before trimming. Yes, it’s long, and I’m sure it seems infinite at the start of the job.
But that’s not all. Pictured below is the side that separates our driveway from the one next door. Rich trims their side, too, because it’s our hedge.
Somehow he stays good natured throughout the whole ordeal. Here’s Wally helping to keep his spirits up.
The trimmings are hauled to “The Pile” – over the bank to compost. When we first moved here The Pile was actually a gully.
Here’s our big puppy, Wally, looking happy, as always.
Aren’t they helpful?
Time to take a rest in the shade. Whew, they’re exhausted from all that helpfulness!
Come October it will be time to do it all over again, but in the meantime there’s still plenty to do. It’s a good thing we enjoy being outside. There are few things I enjoy more than gardening, but when it comes to hedge trimming I’m just a watcher. Rich will keep doing it as long as he’s able. I hope you’re enjoying your springtime, however you like to spend your days. Take care!
Wow, that hedge is huge!!!! Love seeing your husband and those adorable helpers.

I cannot believe how absolutely beautiful that hedge is! Or how full ! So many times they are straggly and full of holes . This is the most gorgeous one I have ever seen ! I'm sure it's because of the two beautiful little helpers Rich has helping him . You guys never have to take a vacation . Just going to your yard would be like going to paradise, because between the hedge and the beautiful flowers you have everything you want right there !

Oh boy do I know how Rich feels! I've been laying pine bark nuggets, trimming shrubs, weeding the garden, mowing the grass and it has been so hot. I don't have any sweet helpers either. But your hedge is gorgeous!

Oh my gosh, that is one huge project, your hubby is doing a fabulous job Leslie; and what a beautiful yard you have . . . an oasis! I, too, love gardening, but unfortunately our house was built over a swamp and we have very poor soil. I've amended it with black cow and good soil, but it seems to just soak in and disappear. I've planted so many different varieties of plants and they all live a few years and wither and die. My roses will take off, but then the deer come in and gobble them up and I'm left frustrated and disheartened. I've told my husband I'm ready to downsize our home and move to a lake . .. . LOL! I so love your two babies, they are beautiful and I'm sure they bring you and your husband great joy . . . we LOVE seeing your photos . . .. keep them coming! Hugs sweet lady!!

What a beautiful family you have. I absolutely love seeing pictures of them. Your hubby is amazing! Painting the house, now dealing with the hedge. What an amazing area you have there.

So happy to see photos of the fur babies. That is a LOT of hedge. Bet it keeps any noise down from the other side. I've been trying to have some flowers in pots, but we've had so much rain, everything keeps getting flooded. Some plants do not like a lot of water.

Always love seeing Wally and LuLu! Such beautiful goldens! Your hubby deserve a metal for his work on the hedges, but I'm glad he has such trusted help! Wonderful pictures!

Oh, Leslie, what a JOY! I love seeing the photos of how Rich is trimming the hedge - wow, what a joy! But what a delight to see Wally and Lulu "helping" him! Hehe! And what a guy for Rich to so perfectly trim your neighbor's side! He's the kind of neighbor I would love -- and I'd love to have you too!! What fun that would be! Enjoy the beautiful weather and your garden, sweet friend! And I love your buddies! Hugs! xoxo

Such a beautiful garden! Your hedge is even worse than trimming our ligustrum trees twice a year! The ladder is the same size but we don't have to be so exact, and not nearly that much! Thanks for sharing! Hugs, de

Those are some tall hedges, reminds me of the ones we had when we lived in England, we understand trimming the neighbors side too, we have to do that with the bushes/trees that separate ours and neighbors yards. The neighbors we had before this family asked if they could cut them down before they tried to sell the house, guess they thought it was a bad thing and I told him, I like those, they flower in the spring and smell so good and since our other tree in our yard died from a disease that I would like to keep them, glad I didn't let him get his way, the new neighbors don't mind them.
Your little helpers are too cute!

Wow, what a project but it looks fabulous and a great privacy 'fence'!! What fabby helpers you have....I sure miss mine...I planted her a garden of her own yesterday, just need to go and get more mulch to add to it. Sorry I haven;t been around much, but it's been crazy around here, will post about it at a later date when I have some 'free' time (whatever that is..lol)!!

Don't pass out with shock Leslie.....it's Leigh with a comment on one of your fabulous blog posts. First of all...congratulations on your retirement. Secondly, it's wonderful to read all about your garden, Wally and Lulu and the fabulous cards you make. I sat down at my computer this morning wondering what you had been up to, so decided to read your blog posts.
My blog is sadly very neglected for several reasons. One, I needed a change of craft...I'm sewing instead. Embroidery, patchwork and quilting all included. Two, in November last year I had to have surgery which was successful but put me out of action until the end of January. Three..my OH had to take three months long service leave so we have been away exploring different parts of Queensland for two months.
I dare say that I will be bitten by the papercraft bug again but for the moment I'm enjoying the journey back into sewing. I do have the 'save the date' cards and invitations for my son's wedding to make so that may start my papercrafting again.
