LuLu wanted me to share this picture of her with the pretty stick she found. She brought it all the way into the house to show me, and then picked up the rope, as well, on her way out. She’s so proud of her sticks. Gee, I wonder if it has anything to do with the big deal we make over how pretty they are. This one was really special with all the “decorations” hanging off of it and everything. It came out of the gutter when Rich was cleaning them and LuLu was quick to claim it as her own.
Not to be out-cuted, Wally had to grab the first thing he could find that we would fuss over, too. Ever since he learned to fetch shoes he’s certain we’ll always be glad to have them. And we are. Wouldn’t dream of telling him we don’t need them right now.
Of course, shoes are good for this, as well:
I also wanted to share this rose because it’s such a ray of sunshine:
It’s my only rose. I don’t do well with them because of the deer and disease and bugs. Don’t like to spray because of the dogs. Can’t use certain products because it’s in a pot on the deck. This one has been sprayed with something organic, but the foliage is still turning with fungus or whatever that stuff is. Beautiful blooms, though, and very long stems. My son gave it to me for Mother’s Day last year. I’ll continue to work with it because it’s special.
Wishing you a happy weekend!
I'm always so happy to see your sweet babies! I know you love them so much and they have needled their way into your heart! Bella would love to come visit and play with these two. She doesn't realize she is tiny! (5 lbs) Have a great holiday weekend!

Beautiful babies! Love when you share pictures of them. Your rose is stunning. Beautiful shade of yellow and that bit of sunlight sure makes it shine! Thanks Leslie for sharing. Lulu and Wally always make me smile. Have a wonderful day!

your furbabies are gorgeous and one simple way to cut down on the mold on roses is to water them in the morning ( or early afternoon) so the leaves have time to dry in the sunshine) :)

You have two beautiful fur babies Leslie, we also have one, only he`s black and a Labrador, who we idolize, as I`m sure you do the way you talk about them.
Gorgeous rose such a beautiful colour.

Oh, sweet Wally and Lulu look like they had such fun! And what is it with animals getting their noses in shoes!! Hehe! So funny! But, wow, your single rose is gorgeous and really does look like sunshine at sunset! It's stunning! When in NJ, I had the most beautiful rose bush with a pink/somewhat peach blossom. That plant was amazing and produced so many flowers, and each year I would cut it back to nubs! Yet, it would grow again even bigger. I miss it! Thanks for sharing the fun you and your precious fur babies have been having! Big hugs, sweet friend! xoxo

Those two are just the cutest, oh the joy our furbabies bring to our lives. Oh my goodness that rose is just beautiful, at least you got one bloom out of it, makes it extra special and you captured it so nicely! We have a rose bush on the side of our house that does well for a few weeks and then just slowly dies but comes back every spring, really weird. I also have a miniature rose bush that the blooms don't get bigger than a quarter that just about dies by the end of winter, I think it has some kind of bug on it, it gets the look of cobwebs over it and it kills all the leaves and stuff, so I put it outside one year for the summer and it gets big and full of roses and just beautiful, really weird. Hope your enjoying a great weekend!

OMG what fun photos you've shared with us today! Hope you're enjoying a FABULOUS holiday weekend! Your four legged family members are beautiful and I can see have personalities of their own! LOL ...
Your rose is gorgeous ... what a beautiful color. Have you tried Knock-Out Roses? I don't spray mine and other than cutting them back in the fall they are pretty easy to maintain. And the critters seem to leave them alone too.
HUGS and Happy Day my friend!

Leslie it's so wonderful to see those beautiful babies of yours. They certainly have the sweetest personality. Love the photos of them with their sticks and shoes; too cute! It's hard to tell from the picture but it sort of looks like those tiny dots on your rose leaves maybe something called mealybugs. I'm not sure if that's what they're called but I used to have that in my roses in Chicago. A solution of Dawn dishwashing liquid and water believe it or not, wiped on the leaves gently make those little buggers disappear. It's not a chemical and not harmful to the babies so it might be worth a try

I love seeing pictures of Wally and Lulu - seeing what they are up to! Thanks for sharing. I too have trouble with my roses. Very discouraging!

Your babies are so beautiful and evidently smart & helpful!! Love Wally with his face in the shoe! That's such a pretty rose too!

They are so precious... I always want to hug them. Ranger has fallen asleep with his nose in a shoe before, totally cute. Awww.. just melts my heart. Hug them for me.

Such an incredible rose! The colors are amazing. I have never seen a rose that color before. We don't grow roses here either. Too humid, too hot, too buggy, and fungi thrive on them. I have tried everything. Lulu and Wally make up for the lack of roses! What little entertainers they are! Too funny with Lulu prancing happily with her stick assortment and Wally not only delivering unwanted shoes, but also hoarding them as snufters LOL. xo
