I’m back again with another Halloween card. This one will be an easy mailer with no chunky embellishments. I salvaged this image panel from a card I made a couple of years or more ago. The card was awful and I never shared it, but I remade it with the Deconstructed Sketch #120 and now it’s much better. Just a simple Halloween card made with Flourishes’ Witching You a Happy Halloween.
I made the original card at a time when I had no Halloween designer papers and selected, instead, from the BasicGrey Kioshi pad. Sometimes you just have to manage. Since there were still Kioshi remnants on the image panel I finished off the new card with papers from the same collection. Some of the papers in that collection are so pretty and feminine, and then there are these. Well, thank goodness!
Here’s the sketch:
I made the crescent moon by first punching a 1” circle, then positioning a 1 1/4” circle punch over the edge of the hole and punching again. The piece that popped out was a perfect crescent shape. The stars are hand drawn and cut out. Edges of the moon and stars are sponged with mustard ink. The stamping was done on Flourishes’ Classic White cardstock and the image was colored with Copic markers. I added Stickles glitter to the stars on the broom, and colored the handmade stars with a Spica clear glitter pen. The Spica glitter is fine and subtle, but I think you can see it in the photo below.
Thanks for your visit! Witching you a happy day!
Stamps: Witching You a Happy Halloween (Flourishes) Paper: Basic Black, Wisteria, Flourishes Classic White, BasicGrey Kioshi designer paper Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (broom), Palette Noir (cat), Lovely Lilac (sentiment), Mustard (to sponge moon and stars), Copic markers for coloring Accessories: Rick rack, Stickles Stardust glitter glue, Spica clear glitter pen, Scotch brand foam mounting tape (to pop up cat)
This is just too cute! I need to really get busy and make a few Halloween cards and I also have two birthdays this month as well!

I can't imagine that the original card was not perfect, since this one definitely is! I love the green ric rac and that crescent moon is a genius touch! I was just reading to see what die you had used & how clever you were to use the circle punches. I'll have to try that! I have every circle punch they made & rarely use them anymore. The glitter really finishes the card, doesn't it? Awesome job Leslie!

Oh, I'm so glad you were able to salvage that cute image! And you made it into a wonderful card. I'm sure the original one was fabulous, too, even if it wasn't quite up to your present-day standards:)

Will this may be something you just reused but it looks Fab to me... so fresh and clean with the broom giving off the sparks to prove it.
A really great Halloween card!

Leslie, I don't know how you think up your card designs, but I'm always fascinated and inspired. This is darling. LOVE the Flourishes broom, which you have magically colored. That lavender-magenta shading around the yellow straw broom is a knockout! Your moon and stars look great by your black cat. It's a beautiful card in every way. And lots of FUN, too! hugs, de

Loved seeing this in my email inbox, Leslie! The punched crescent moon turned out so well, and I love the elements of cat/moon/witch's broom all placed artfully together.
You must tell me your 'secret' of how to softly color around an object with alcohol markers. I've tried to duplicate using a light color and a "0" blender Copic, but it just doesn't look the same. Would you be willing to share?

Oh I love this card, Leslie! You were the first one to actually introduce me to the Basic Grey collection a number of years ago. I still have some these papers too. Those triangles on the Kiosh paper remind me of licorice all-sorts - yum. I love the soft lavender around the broom, and the vibrant color of the moon with the lavender really gives this card that Halloween feel. Love that bit of green ric-rac too. Great card my friend!
