Whenever I finish one card, especially one I’ve spent quite a bit of time on, I almost always immediately start another, simpler card – sort of a cleaning of the palate, I guess. Most of this card’s parts came from my scrap basket – the lattice, the brick wall, the designer paper, the embossed frame, and the colored flowers. The flowers (Flourishes’ Butterflies & Blossoms) were begun for another project, but I switched colors and set these aside, knowing I’d use them eventually. After the flower pot card in my last post, I thought I’d make quick work of my scraps. . .
It may not look quick, but, in fact, it was mostly just a matter of putting the parts together. . . that is, until I decided to trim out the uppermost embossed panel to create a frame. Even still, that didn’t take very long with my craft knife. And, by the way, it’s the first time I’ve used this particular embossing folder. I mean, it had been embossed and set aside, but it doesn’t count until it’s used on a card, right? All of the cut filigree overlay, such as where the “Love” is stamped, is part of the Sizzix Hearts and Vine Frame embossing folder.
In the center of the card I added a border of Spellbinders Parisian accents (another first time use). I used both the positive and negative cuts to fill a little space between the brick wall and the lattice. The swirly vines are Spellbinders Floral Flourishes dies.
That’s all for this week. I have to tell you, my resolve to use a “first” on every card has brought a new level of enjoyment to my stamping. It’s as though I’ve suddenly awakened and found a roomful of new toys to play with! It’s the little things, you know. Have a great rest of the week!

Stamps: Blossoms & Butterflies, Tag Lines (both Flourishes) Paper: Flourishes Classic White, Memory Box Granny Smith (green), DCWV Lemon Tart designer paper Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Gumball Green (for sponging the green vines), Chocolate Chip for sentiment Accessories: Ribbon, Sizzix Hearts and Vine Frame embossing folder and Brick Wall embossing folder, Spellbinders Lattice, Floral Flourishes, and Parisian accents dies, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

I love the combination of brick wall, lattice, greenery and flowers. It smacks of old world charm. The lovely flourishes are the icing on the cake. It's a pleaser, for sure.

An exquisit card, Leslie - I have pinned both your cards today - they are inspirational and just plain beautiful. I think your fingers are magic as they work with your beautiful artistic soul. I don't think I could even THINK of putting these elements together - and they are so beautiful. It reminds me of your garden patio. Love your "gold" from the scrap bin, Leslie. hugs, de

What a beautiful scene you've created, Leslie. What a wonderful layout. I love the combination of the wall with the lattice. And I "really" love being introduced to a new embossing folder! I love this one!! What an encouragement you are for inspiring us in our creative endeavors. Look around, find something you have, use it, create with it. Thank you, Leslie. I have been keeping bits and parts for a while as well as my staff of embellishments. This week I was able to use something that we all keep (tin foil) and some of my stashed embellishments. Sometimes I think I could open a store - seriously.
Hugs,
Susie ~
P.s. When I got to the part that read: "that is..." I was almost afraid to read further. I thought for a slight second that you cut yourself trying to trim the frame - whew, glad that didn't happen.

You made a more beautiful card with just "spare parts" than most of us can make with "new" ones! This is just gorgeous! I love the brick wall & would never have thought of that with something so beautiful. You have inspired me to get out my basket of spare parts & see what I can come up with now!

Such a beauty! I love how you used the spare parts on this and it became such a work of art! I try to use spare parts, but have to admit, I'm not very faithful to do so. Have a great weekend!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe this was a quick card! Just trimming out that fabulous embossing (I have that one too - love it) looks like it took a long time. A stunner!

I would never have even guessed this was scraps...so very lovely with all the pretty white layers and the touch of color. I have been doing that a lot with my Silhouette pieces and parts...love to rummage through my 'parts' box!

Wow, Leslie! This card is spectacular! I love all the embossed areas--especially the way you trimmed the frame to leave open spaces. I thought it was a new die cut! I think I need to make an all-white card again. Yours is so inspiring!
