Hello, and happy Saturday!
A few days before LuLu’s stitches were due to come out she developed a bulge near her incision site. I took her to the vet who aspirated some bloody fluid, stating it was nothing to be alarmed about, her incision looked good, and she wasn’t concerned at all. The bandage is meant to apply pressure and lessen the drainage accumulating in her abdominal cavity. It gives her quite the hourglass figure, doesn’t it? Maybe I should try one of those.
Her stitches are coming out today, though I’m not convinced her incision looks quite healed enough. I’ve already removed the bandage and LuLu still has a bulge. I’m trying not to worry. There was no infection in the fluid, so that’s a good thing, and LuLu is 100% happy and perky.
Hopefully, she’ll be released to full rough and tumble puppy play soon. Pictured below are Wally and LuLu with Tori, the girl next door – prior to surgery. They sure know how to have a good time!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good news from the vet. I hope you’ll have a beautiful Easter weekend!
I always enjoy the Saturday photos of the kids! Hoping from the best news from the vet! Have a happy and safe holiday!

Hi Leslie, I had the same fluid bulge in one of my dogs and it scared me too but it really was nothing. It collects at the bottom like that because of gravity. Lulu is so clearly happy as a lark how can she be anything but healthy?

I've got my fingers crossed for Lulu too. I realize how worrisome an unexpected fluid build up can be but trust your vet that it's nothing serious. Even us human can experience fluid build-up in our extremities and I have to wonder if gravity plays a role. What lovely photos you've posted today!

Leslie, praying that all is well with Lulu and her mom doesn't have to worry anymore. It's so hard not to worry. Love the pictures each Saturday. Have a blessed Easter.

Lulu looks so cute with her girdle. I'm wishing all good things for her when she gets her stitches out. I'm sure she will be frolicking back to normal in no time. Give them a big kiss for me. Happy Easter.

Sending positive thoughts your way for a successful vet visit. It is so difficult when the creatures we love (including humanoids) are not well. Got my fingers and toes crossed that all goes well. Happy Easter to you all and hugs to the furry ones.

Oh dear, I'm sorry you've run into this extra trouble. Sigh. One thing for sure, you're worried about it but she certainly is not. Sending positive thoughts your way. Linda

Sure hope Lulu gets through this little bump in the road quickly. Just went through a rough week with one of our Shelties. She hates wearing the collar but it's a necessary evil. It's rough when the dogs can't tell us there is a problem. You are a super master for her because your concerns about her are all on target. Make sure you get your questions answered at the vet. Healing thoughts for Miss Lulu. Happy Easter!
