Hello! I’m back with a baby card for Flourishes Friday. They’re not only one of my favorite kinds of cards to create, but they’re one of my most frequently used cards. I’ll no sooner make one, even if it’s just for fun, than it finds a recipient. You’d think everyone I know was having babies. Well, not quite, but I do have a lot of younger friends and coworkers, and the friends closer to my age are having grandbabies, or they know someone having a baby or grandbaby and would like a card for them. So you see how it goes… always a need for a baby card, and that’s perfectly fine by me!
This was a make ahead card which I had a hankerin’ to do in blue for a baby boy. I used Flourishes’ Baby Love set. I stamped the Teddy bear, masked it and stamped the rocking chair behind it. The image is watercolored on 140 lb hot press watercolor paper. I sponged banana ink around the image panel edges, and blue ink around the other layers, then finished them off with stitching.
There’s a nice variety of images in use by the rest of the team today, so treat yourself to a little look around:
Be sure to stop in at the Newsletter for a little something Barbara has prepared for you, as well.
Thank you for visiting with me today. Have a wonderful weekend, and a happy 4th of July celebration for my American friends!
Stamps: Baby Love Paper: Bordering Blue textured, 140 lb hot press watercolor paper, designer paper of forgotten origin Ink: Palette Noir, Close to Cocoa (for lettering), various markers for watercoloring Accessories: Satin ribbon, button, linen thread
What a cute card. I love the colors! You always have such pretty papers and your choices are always perfect! Your coloring of the image is perfect and I just adore the rocker!

Leslie, this is so very precious. I remember that sentiment from when my boys were babies. I think I remember it from a piece of needlework. It stuck in my mind and I rocked as much as I could. Love rocking babies.
This will be a very special card to some Mother/Mother-to-be.

I love this little poem. When my first son was born 38 years ago my sister made a needle point picture with this poem and a mother rocking her baby. I have loved and used the poem many times on baby cards.

Oh Leslie, I love this! The sentiments is one of my very favorites! My kids had a framed print of it in their bedrooms and so did my grandbabies! You've taken it to a whole new level by surrounding it with your beautiful art!

I do love that little poem. Someone gave me a beautiful card when my 9 YO was born, and (although not handmade) it had this poem on it. It brings a tear to my eye every time!
