My "Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday" blog candy winner will be announced at the end of this post.
Next week Flourishes will begin previewing a whole new batch of stamp sets and I'm still working my way through last month's sets. I've got several cards ready to put together -- the images are stamped, the layout parts are bagged up like little card kits, and I've been coloring on my coffee breaks at work. Today I brought all the parts together for this Christmas Classics card.
Funny thing, when I sat down to finish this card I'd forgotten what I had in mind for the layout. I mean, I had all the parts, but I couldn't remember how I'd planned to piece them together. I think this is right. . . Not that it's very complex. . . I was trying again for an easy to mail, no extra postage card. The layering is minimal, as the panels of designer paper barely overlap each other and the main image is popped up but not matted. I used a single border of this pretty pleated satin ribbon and decided that was really all it needed. Sometimes you feel like a lot, and sometimes a little.
I colored with Copics and did some smudgy sponging to give it an aged look. The image seems a little vintage to me, but I could color it again next week and I may see it then as playful and bright and totally today. I'm at the mercy of my whims.
Stamps: Christmas Classics Paper: Bazzill brown, Flourishes Classic Ivory, Memory Box Winterberry designer paper (probably retired) Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Rich Cocoa, Caramel, Copics for coloring Accessories: Satin pleated ribbon, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

'Tis a lovely season, to be sure, and I hope the winner of my "Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday" blog candy of October 26 will find it lovelier, still, when she reads her name here:
Mary B !!!

"I've enjoyed seeing all of your Ruby Tuesday creations, and have bookmarked many of them since I still have quite a bit of this paper hoarded. My favorite is probably Enduring Friendship from August 13, 2007. Your blog candy looks fantastic - thanks for the chance to win it, and thanks for all the inspiration!"

Mary, you are comment #91, randomly selected by RANDOM.ORG. Congratulations!!! Please contact me for your winnings.
Thank you, everyone, for your thoughtful comments. It turned into quite a Ruby Tuesday retrospective for me. A nice way to finish up, I thought.
And that finishes up today's post. Wishing you all a very happy day!
Leslie, your coloring and layout is wonderful! Beautiful card. I love the paper you paired the image with and the pleated ribbon just gives it the final touch.
Hugs and smiles

pretty card. Congrats to the winner.
I've never really been able to do piece parts and then assemble them later. I'm usually a start to finish card person. Interesting. A friend of mine also does a bunch of little elements and stuff and then puts them together, could never understand that.

Gorgeous Xmas card. I love your coloring (as always) and how well the DP's worked with your layout. I agree..the ruffled ribbon was the perfect embellishment. What a beautiful new stamp set too. TFS
P.S. Congrats to Mary too :-)

I am ashamed to admit that I have not been to your blog in oh so long. Life's been kicking me around and I'm doing my best to kick back! So today I needed some inspiration and of course, you were my very first inspiration when I started stamping, so I came back *home*. Your work is just magical.
