Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday.
Who could hang a name on you, when you change with every new day?
Still, I'm gonna miss you.
-- Rolling Stones
We've come to Stella's final day on the blog. It's funny how bittersweet this feels -- on the one hand I'm so ready to give up the challenge, and on the other I'm sorry to say goodbye to her. She's become almost like a real person to me, and we've been through so much together. Many of you were there with us when our journey began in April 2007. That's a long time to work with one paper collection!
Today's card combines much of what I love about Stella -- pretty florals, earthy solids that aren't really solids at all, warm colors, and the ability to be just about anything you require of her. Stella has done feminine, masculine, every season, and just about every holiday -- including Halloween! Today she's made a birthday card with a vintage edge to it. I've used a carousel horse and sentiment from Flourishes' Enjoy the Ride. The Prima flowers, glazed brad, and velvet ribbon also came from Flourishes. Along with Stella, I've used varying shades of brown and yellow cardstocks, and Spellbinders Large Scalloped Oval Nesties. There's a Martha Stewart edge punch here, too. The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and embossed with Vanilla embossing powder. The carousel horse was stamped on Flourishes' Classic White Cardstock and colored with Prismacolor alcohol markers (similar to Copics).
Are you still with me?
Now comes the part where we send Stella off in style!
I've gathered up a few things to offer as blog candy.
Four 6x6 paper pads -- BasicGrey Olivia and Origins, and Prima Annalee and Fairy Flora (you can click on any photo for a larger view):
Three stamp sets courtesy of Flourishes -- Swan Lake, Apple of My Eye, and Windows to the World. These are designer extras so there's no pretty packaging, but the stamps are the same:
Several one yard lengths of ribbons I selected from Flourishes, including that cute ruffled gingham and rich scalloped velvet trim:
And finally, Michelle at Stamper's Dream was kind enough to donate two beautiful JustRite sets. I've included the round stamper to fit both sets:
This is where you come in. Now, Stella and I have put a lot of work into Ruby Tuesdays so. . . to be eligible to win the whole lot of this blog candy I would ask you to do one little thing:
Pick out any Ruby Tuesday card or project which you happen to like for some reason, and either link it or briefly describe it in your comment. I'll know which one you're referring to. You can go directly to Ruby Tuesdays either here (old blog) or here (new blog).
Please, if you're reading this in an email, click through to the blog and leave your comment here. To leave a comment, simply click on the title in your email (Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday) and it will bring you to the blog. Scroll all the way to the end of the comments and you'll find the fields where you can submit a comment. Fill in your name and your email address in the designated boxes (no one will see your email address but me). A URL is NOT required. I have many valued readers who send me nice comments through email, only, and I don't want you folks to miss your chance.
I thought about putting a Mr. Linky on here and having you CASE and link a Ruby Tuesday card, but that would probably exclude too many people. I want this to be fun, and a nice way to say "goodbye" to Stella.
This is all that's left of Stella:
There's still some life in her but, frankly, were tired, Stella and I. We're ready to be finished.
By next Monday evening, comments will be closed and I'll begin the process of numbering the comments and drawing a random winner. Don't forget to come back after Monday to see if you're the lucky one! I hope to see you again in the meantime. Take care!
Hi Leslie, what a generous giveaway you're doing! I really enjoyed looking back through your Ruby Tuesday projects and the one I really loved the most (and it was very hard to narrow it down to one choice!) was Ruby Tuesday: Celebrate Stella. This was way back in June 2007, and I just love your beautiful watercolouring on the flower. So gorgeous!

Oh my goodness, I can't believe how long I have been visiting your blog. My favorite Stella card was October 15, 2007 "Stella's Slim Stems". A Thank You card. This seems like only yesterday. Your blog was one of the first I started visiting....there has been so much inspiration from you over these years. Thanks for the chance to win this generous giveaway!

All the Ruby Tuesday work is fantastic, hard to pick one, but I did. I love the fall of the year, the beautiful colors, less bugs, not to hot and not to cold. Just the perfect time of the year so I picked Stella's Autumn Wreath. Just beautiful, those colors are perfection!
Thanks for the chance and the wonderful giveaway. Wow amyone would be happy with this.
angel hugs

Well, I can't pick just one, but one of my favorites was the one with the coffee cups, because it combines Stella's lovely papers with your amazing coloring skills. Thanks so much for all of your inspiring work. Time and time again it has motivated me!

Hi Leslie, wow, you're really making it hard on us! It wasn't easy to choose just one card, but between the 'Bold and Sentimental Stella' which I think is a perfect card for male or female and 'Stella gives a Birthday Gift', I think the Birthday Gift one is just a couple of inches ahead. Thank you for the lovely 'goodbye' candy! Your card for today is just as gorgeous and I am sure you 'Enjoyed the Ride' while it lasted. I love my Flourishes stamps as well as the JustRite ones (don't have any of the ones on offer) and the papers and ribbons are just as gorgeous.
Have a great week!

I enjoy following your blog and love your cards. I chose "A Breath of Fresh Air" because it is beautiful and you described how it came to be. Thank you for the generous offerings for a giveaway.

My favorite Ruby Tuesday card is Roses and Pearls. The red rose symbolizes sincere Love, Respect, Courage & Passion and pearls symbolize feminine wisdom. Doesn't get much better than that.
Don't question why she needs to be so free
She'll tell you it's the only way to be
She just can't be chained
To a life where nothing's gained
And nothing's lost
At such a cost

Good morning, Leslie! I knew exactly which card was my fave but I had to go back and find it: http://leslierich.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2007/10/08/ruby-tuesday-stella-in-sage/ I love the sketch and the soft colors. You may remember me telling you that you were my first blog to start following and subscribing to and you are still an inspiration and motivation! Keep up the awesome work!

What a yummy, yummy prize!!! Wow! It was not easy to pick just one so may I pick two? Stella with Sage from your old blog and also Stella as a little gift pouch. I loved that one so much that I made one, too. You certainly have been faithful to your commitment. Thank you for the opportunity to win. And thank you for all of the beautiful samples you've shared for 3 years.

Wowzers! Your last card is beautiful! Stella is going out with a bang. You are so generous to offer all that fabulous blog candy, but there's no way I can pick a favorite. Just looking back on your new blog alone I saw one after the other that I decided was my favorite, and now I have to conclude that I can't pick a favorite. However, since I loved the punched flower, I'm going to link that. http://lesliekmiller.typepad.com/running-with-scissors/2010/02/ruby-tuesday-stellas-punchy-flower-tutorial.html It's a gorgeous Stella flower and I love the richness of it. Whoever wins will get a goldmine of stamping stuff and we're all winners just getting to see your unique creations from one pack of DP. Thanks for all the wonderful eye candy and for the challenge of using up our papers. I love that idea. I think whoever wins should get a keepsake piece of Stella.

Thanks so much for the chance to win. Sorry to see Stella go:( One of my favourites is from Nov. 12/07, Stella's Autumn Wreath, love the richness of colours.

I was introduced to Stella when I started stamping in 2007 and joined SCS. You have made some beautiful cards since that time, and before. I loved the card you posted on Nov. 12, '07 titled Stella's Autumn Wreath. Loved the PSX wreath image and the coloring was great.
Thanks for a chance to win-what a great give-away!

Thanks so much for the chance to win. Stella will be missed. One of my favorites was Stella's Dahlia. The rich colors were stunning.

Wow! I can hardly believe I've been following you for three whole years! The reason I began following you was a card you did called Stella in Sage on October 8, 2007. I ordered a Ruby Tuesday paper stack and got busy! Thank you for all the inspiration. Thanks too for the chance to win your fabulous blog candy!

Hi Leslie, Thanks for the chance to win. My favourite is the one where you made a flower out of circles. I don't have a lot of stamps so this design fills a card with nice colours and only needs a couple of hand lettered words for a sentiment.
Posted by: Judy Vienneau | 10/26/2010 at 06:36 AM
Leslie, please don't enter me for the blog candy, or if I'm selected, please choose another name. I just want to leave a comment to tell you how simply beautiful this card is. {{{hugs}}}

Wow! What a fantastic giveaway! It was very hard to pick just one but I think Toile Blossoms called to me the most. It is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for the chance to win.

I've always ooohed and ahhhed over your gorgeous Ruby Tuesday cards so it was *very* difficult to pick just one:) I always love to look at your beautiful coloring and yet the one I selected has none! I choose The Simple Things In Life, July 9, 2007. I love it! It just speaks to me and I do try to live my life in that way:)
The card you made for today is really fun!! I love the image, the colors and your gorgeous coloring. I'm also inspired to try the large scallops like you did here - very effective. tfs

Wow, so many to love, but I picked my favourite as Stella's Tote 'n' Tutorial http://leslierich.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2007/07/30/ruby-tuesday-stellas-tote-n-tutorial/
Just perfect colours and a gorgeous flower!
