We spent the weekend at our son’s house recently, and while the guys painted in the kitchen I colored at the kitchen table. I packed up all my Copic markers in my sturdy Copic carrying case, along with a few digital images I’d printed some while back. I colored three of them – more coloring than I ever manage to accomplish in one sitting at home. Gosh, if that’s how it’s going to be I think we should go there more often! Of the three images I colored, this is the only one I’ve turned into a card so far.
These anemones are one of the free samples I saved from Dover Publications. Sign up for their weekly sampler to receive emails which will lead you to a variety of free images to color. I printed on Flourishes Classic White cardstock and, as mentioned, used Copic markers for coloring. The designer paper is retired BasicGrey Scarlet’s Letter. It’s a bold switch from sweet spring pastels, but these sun loving, spring blooming red anemones were a fond favorite in my garden for many years. They’ve died out now and been replaced with a delicate pink and white variety that bloom in the late summer shade.
Happy stamping! I’ll see you again soon!

Red is the most difficult colour to use with Copics and I'm always in awe of anyone who can colour with the reds. And in awe I am of this beautiful card, Leslie ... splendid work.

Beautiful Leslie! Love the richness of the reds, you did a wonderful job colouring. And the paper is perfect! The black layer behind the image really makes this pop off the card. Thanks for the inspiration and look forward to seeing the other images you coloured. Have a great day!

Leslie, these fabulously shaded and colored anemones are very elegant - so pretty. I especially like your background layers, made in a variety of prints, and with the border punches - such a beautiful card!

Oh my you would never know that started out as a dover image, your coloring is just amazing, and that paper is the perfect compliment to it! To be able to visit with your son and have some fun coloring it sounds like the perfect weekend :)

You are one of the true masters of coloring! These flowers look so real, so velvety to the touch! So, let me ask, do you download the images from Dover, save them to your computer, then print them on cardstock then color? What an easy way to not have to keep a stamp set on hand, especially if you may only use the image once or twice. Let me know, because the more I see your Dover images, the more intrigued I get. I am new to digital imaging and coloring. Maybe this could be printed on water color paper too and painted with watercolors? Love this card Leslie!

Love!! :)
You know, when I lived in Eugene I used to go to the flower nurseries and photograph the flowers. The Anemones were some of my favorite, with their bright cheerful colors!

Gorgeous, Leslie! How fun to be able to relax and get three images colored while the guys were working - awesome! Love the way you finished the wonderful flowers into a beautiful card, too. Can't wait to see the other two colored images.

This is just truly beautiful! The red just pops right off the card & your coloring is just awesome. When I go to my friend Gail's house to "play" I take my markers & a pile of stamped images too. It's amazing what you get done when you don't stop to assemble anything! I'll be waiting to see what you have next!

Oh, Leslie, I LOVE this card! I agree...red is so hard, and you are amazing. I think one needs to be bold (and brave) and not be afraid to go darker. You've shown such depth to these lovely flowers! I LOVE that you are now blogging and sharing your love and joy in stamping and coloring! So glad to see your cards...and your goldens in each blog. Hugs, Cheryl
