I finally did something I’ve been meaning to do for years – make some New Year’s cards. It comes so close after Christmas… I guess I’m just not ready for another holiday yet, except in regard to having the day off work.
The first card uses an American Art Stamp couple with an Art Impressions sentiment. Both stamps have been gathering dust for a few years – not because I don’t like them (quite the contrary), but I don’t have a lot of occasion to use them. I generally look at them every year when I think about doing New Year’s cards, but that’s as far as it goes.
So… you’ve probably noticed the embossed and cut away card base. That was done with a new-to-me product called Marianne Design Designable Folders. I got mine here (in the UK), but you can find them elsewhere, too, if you do a Google search. I was amazed with the speedy delivery from all the way over there. I guess those planes fly pretty fast! The price of these folders is a little scary, but they sure can help you do a cool card design in record time. That can be important. However, you can do a little or a lot. Either way, they’re very fun to play with.
I decked out the couple in glittery party finery by stamping in Versafine Onyx black ink and embossing with sparkly Stardust embossing powder. The sentiment was embossed with plain clear powder. You can see the sparkle better in the next photo. Even the gentleman’s moustache and hair have glitter in them. Either he’s been nuzzling his lady friend or he’s been wiping his nose on his coat sleeve. Maybe he’s no gentleman, after all.
I cut the image panel with Spellbinders Labels Sixteen S4-301, and added just a touch of color with Copic markers and a pink rhinestone.
The next card features an image from a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Along the Same Lines. The sentiment is from A Muse and is cut with a Spellbinders Ribbon Banners S4-324 die. I sponged with ink while the die was still in place. The BasicGrey Euphoria designer paper looks all bubbly and floaty (like your head after a few glasses of champagne).
We have sparkling pink champagne for our New Year’s celebration.
I hope your plans for New Year’s Eve are as exciting as mine. If I’m still awake at midnight maybe I’ll hear some distant fireworks… Whatever you’re doing, stay safe and enjoy! See you again soon!

Great looks, I love that cutting folder. I'm going to check out that link! Happy New Year!

Love both cards. Thanks for the link - will check it out. We are with our kids in Washington State and will spend a rather quiet evening home. I've always wanted to do New Year's cards as well but never get to it. I'd have to make them before coming here.

Both of these cards are awesome! Love the all white card - one of my favourite kind of cards. The Marianne die you used is perfect - I think I need it! The paper on the second one fits in great for your theme - bubbly and floaty! Thanks for sharing your talent. Your such an inspiration. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for 2012. Happy New Year to you and yours!

But never seem to get to them in time..lol I Love the Terrific sentiment ( sounds just like me.. lol) and the Gorgeous embossed/cut card base on the first one. And I Adore the sparkly pink champagne in those fun tall champagne glasses on your second card, they just make me smile! 8-)

Happy New Year! I know what you mean about the fireworks. We spent last New Years in Prague with our daughter and family, and at midnight the skies erupted like our 4th of July here in the U.S. Loved the sentiment on your first card!

I'll take some of that pink bubbly, thank you very much! Looks good, and sounds good. ;) Those champagne glasses will not fit in my cabinet, though, with those ultra long stems!
The die cut background is AMAZING. Those lucky UK folks!

Your cards are Fabulous! Thanks for the link to The Art of Craft. You know I need one of those folders.

cute cards. New Year cards are not something I make.
Yes those Marianne dies are really nice. I'm lucky enough to have a couple sources for them here in Calgary. There are a lot of new die companies that have come out. I also really like Joy Crafts dies and Nellie's dies.
Have a Happy New Year and all the best for 2012.

Your cards put a big smile on my face, as did your comments regarding your New Year's Eve celebration. We usually break out the ginger ale (Canada Dry, of course) and toast to the New Year, if we're awake. You did a bang-up jog on those cards. Love the dies, the stamps and of course, the Leslie touch which brings them to life. Wish you all a happy, healthy 2012. Cheers!

I will have to say I have only made a few New Years cards and it is usually because I was too late getting Christmas cards made so I did New Years cards. Your first card is so cool, not only a fun image but Love that embossing folder I haven't seen those before. Your second card is cute and fun too!

Love both these New Year cards Leslie. I doubt very much whether I'll be awake at midnight tomorrow night...in fact I'll go so far as to say I definitely won't be. lol
I hope the New Year is happy for you.

I adore both of these cards, but the first is my favorite. Your comments about the gentleman & his glitter had me laughing out loud! Somehow the image of him wiping his nose on his sleeve just cracked me up! Enjoy your New Year's celebration. I'm spending mine eating chocolate & making cards, my two favorite pasttimes. Now I'm going to have to check out those embossing folders too. Darn!
