Hello, friends, and welcome to Tuesday! I hope you all had a nice Easter weekend. I planted flowers Saturday till I ran out of potting soil, and now the rest will have to wait for another day off. Well. . . if I can’t plant flowers, I can at least color them.
I’ve been meaning to color some yellow violets like those growing in our woods, and for fun I thought I’d do some blue violets at the same time.
The yellows are colored with Copics on Flourishes Classic White cardstock. The colors, the Copics, and the bright white paper yielded a crisp image. Loving its cheerful countenance, I decided to turn it into a birthday card.
The blues are watercolored with markers on 90 lb hot press watercolor paper and mounted on a Classic Ivory card base. Softer in appearance, classic and clean – I thought it would make a nice sympathy card.
Both sentiments are included in the Sweet Violets set.
For the life of me, I couldn’t get the color of the blue violets to reproduce accurately under my Ott light so I photographed them again under tungsten, and this is the actual color. Even the green is more true. It almost looks like I colored three images, rather than two. I like the photo under tungsten light much better, as they look more like the violets in my garden.
Yellow, blue, purple -- I hope you enjoy them. Have a very nice day!
Stamps: Sweet Violets Paper: Flourishes Classic White and Classic Ivory cardstock, 90 lb hot press watercolor Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Wild Wasabi, Copic markers (yellow violets), Palette Noir, Always Artichoke, Tombow markers (blue violets) Accessories: Ribbon, Flourishes Stunning Slides

Leslie, these are both gorgeous! You have such an eye for color that I am always impressed!

Just beautiful Leslie. I especially like the purple violets, they look like what is blooming all over my yard.

Wow, Leslie, your coloring couldn't be more perfect on these "three" cards. The first blue was eye-popping and I was wondering what colors you used. Funny how the lighting can bring that out. The "purple" is so gorgeous and real looking, but I sure was drawn to the "Blue". (Ha - same one, I know.) Anyway, those are gorgeously colored cards.

'Sweet Violets in Three Colors' should have been the post title, eh? LOL I like all "three" versions, and who knew lighting could be SUCH a major factor in how colors look? Well, anyway you light it, those cards are 'all' winners in my book!

Beautiful image/cards; again I say-what great coloring! I don't see the yellow violets here that often-so soft and pretty! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

both are really pretty, the yellow - delicate, but my preference is the blue/purple which really stands out.

From the scoring to the coloring, you got every detail just right. I love how the different coloring techniques and colors yielded such different but equally beautiful cards!

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! It's funny how purple is SO hard to photograph and always looks blue. How cool you've gotten to plant flowers already.

They are both gorgeous but I am partial to the blue, such lovely deep color

Your watercoloring always makes me drool! Love these cards! While I have purple violets popping up all over (I used to get a white one now and then too...) my neighbors have white violets with purple centers all over their lawns-which I have never seen before. We've been here 8 years and I have never seen them before this spring. They are so pretty! I keep meaning to walk over and ask if I can dig up a few :)
