Hello, everyone! Today’s project started out as a Poppycock can and turned into a nice way to give a gift. Where it will go from there is anybody’s guess, but I’m sure it will be recycled somehow!
You’re probably familiar with Poppycock – decadently delicious caramel popcorn and nut clusters (yum!). We must have been very indulgent at one time to have had such a large can, but I’m afraid that sweet memory escapes me. It’s been in my alterables cupboard for a long time, as I was certain it could be used for something and I have, after all, become an insufferable collector of alterables. I’m not so good about actually altering them, but very good at collecting.
However… I recently wanted to give this little tea rose as a birthday gift, and the long-time-in-residence Poppycock can came to mind for gift packaging. As it happens, the Flourishes team is focusing on makeovers today, so now is the perfect time to share this project.
I wasn’t the least bit able to resist these beautiful, glittery Prima roses when they became available in the Flourishes store. They look gorgeous on cards, providing you plan to hand deliver them or mail them in a box, but for alterable projects they’re particularly ideal. I used Mod Podge as adhesive to cover the can with designer paper, then added my punched border, satin ribbon, roses, and pearls. I made a coordinating 4x4 card with the Fanciful Flourishes butterflies, and a matching envelope seals the deal.
Please visit the Newsletter today where Julie has written an article on the subject of altering, and then hop around to the other designers’ blogs to see their projects, as well. This should be fun!
Thanks so much for dropping in! Have a beautiful weekend!

That's quite beautiful, Leslie! I can understand the accumulation of alterables, rather than tossing things that might be easily reused...it's just making the time or having the circumstance to reuse them that causes the growth of the collection, right??? Anyway, you've done a lovely job and the recipient should be quite pleased!!

Wow! I love altered things and your project just blows me away! So fitting for the little rose inside! I love to alter, however, I don't do very much of it. This project has inspired me!
