We went to our nephew’s outdoor wedding Saturday. The setting was beautiful and, thank goodness, so was the weather. Today I’m sharing the gift we took with us. I posted the card earlier this month, but I didn’t get around to finishing the gift until the day before the wedding. The card uses the JustRite Breath of Spring and Romantic Sentiments sets.
The box began as a plain white box which previously held jewelry from Macy’s. I save all those little boxes because they’re the best for decorating. I covered it with the same paper I used on the card – Memory Box Spearmint. The paper is adhered with Mod Podge, and edges and corners are sanded to smooth them. Rather than wrap paper around the corners, I covered one side at a time. A light sanding of the corners makes it appear seamless.
Before I adhered the paper to the box top, I stamped JustRite’s Victorian Nested Frames in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder. With a craft knife I cut out the center like a frame and placed it over the stamped “For You”, which is one of the sentiments included in this particular JustRite set. The seafoam ribbon and rhinestone were added to match the card.
Inside is a gift card. I cut cardstock to fit the box and scored it on one end to create an angled presentation for the card. Just a little bit of trial and error gave me a near perfect fit. The gift card, itself, originally came adhered to an uninteresting fold of cardstock. I peeled it off easily, as it was adhered with those gummy spots of removable adhesive. The adhesive stayed on the gift card and I used it to hold the card in place in the box.
Finally, to keep the card and box together, I tied them up with white sheer ribbon. I hope the happy couple will keep the box until they find another use for it. Perhaps it will be used to present another gift card someday, or maybe a pretty necklace or bracelet.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post and if it gives you an idea you hadn’t thought of already, then all the better. That’s the whole reason for sharing, after all. Thank you for your time! Have a wonderful day!

Two lovely gifts - the gift card - and the box, which is beautiful. Thank you for sharing about how you covered it and about sanding the edges. Will try that. I save some little boxes, too, and will try your method on them.

Some people insist that only today and tomorrow matter. But how much poorer we would be if we really lived by that rule! So much of what we do today is frivolous and futile and soon forgotten. So much of what we hope to do tomorrow never happens.
